Today in the eliminator match of IPL 2013, Sunrisers Hyderabad won the toss and elected to bat first. Openers Parthiv Patel and Shikhar Dhawan opened the innings for Sunrisers but could not give them a good start as Patel got out in the first over itself leaving Sunrisers at 2/1 in 1 over. Hanuma Vihari also got out cheaply leaving Hyderabad in trouble at 3/2 in 2.3 overs. Shikhar Dhawan and captain Cameron White then steadied the innings and took the score past 50. Just when the duo started to gain momentum, Trivedi got the wicket of White leaving Sunrisers at 55/3 in 11 overs. Shikhar Dhawan was the next to fall after scoring 33 off 39 balls and Sunrisers were placed at 83/4 in 15.4 overs. It was Darren Sammy’s 21 ball 29 along with Perera’s 6 ball 11 and Biplab Samantray’s 14 off 11 balls which helped Sunrisers post a total of 132/7 in 20 overs.

Chasing 133 to win and meet Mumbai in the second qualifier, Rajasthan Royals openers Rahul Dravid and Ajinkya Rahane added 13 runs for the first wicket stand. Dravid was the man to fall after scoring 12 off 10 balls. Shane Watson and Ajinkya Rahane then took the team score to 50 when Shane Watson was caught brilliantly by Sammy near the boundary to reduce Royals to 50/2 in 6.4 overs. Royals were placed well as they needed just 83 to win from 80 balls and had 8 wicket in hand but some superb bowling by Sunrisers helped them make a match out of it. Royals lost three quick wickets and were pegged back as they went from 50/2 to 57/5 in 10 overs. With half the team back in pavilion, Royals needed some one to anchor the innings. Brad Hodge played a superbly to keep Royals in the hunt for victory. Needing 42 to win from last 6 overs, the game was poised for an interesting finish. Brad Hodge first with Sanju Samson and then with James Faulkner kept the scorecard moving and scored occasional boundaries and sixes and made sure the match continues till the last over and has a nail biting finish. Finally it was a superb innings of 54 in 29 balls by Hodge will helped Rajasthan beat Sunrisers by 4 wickets.
