Kaif says: “When we won, in 2000, there was not that much money. We got recognition and that egged me on. We were absorbed into the National Cricket Academy and played the Challengers. Though things have changed now, this fame will not last if these youngsters lose focus and forget their responsibilities. They know cricket comes first. If they don’t perform, money and fame will not last.”

Manoj Tiwary says: “Sometimes I think why it should happen to me. But then, God has been kind to me, giving me money in the form of IPL contract (with the Delhi Daredevils). I was certain that I’d have made it to the Indian team for Ireland and England and the T20 World Cup had I not got injured.”

Shane Warne says: “Though Twenty20 is called batsman’s game, bowlers can turn it around. Yes, spinners will be hit but often we saw good performances by them too. They have evolved and I feel they certainly have a big role in this format of cricket too.”

Former Indian Cricketer Ajay Jadeja had to say these words on Indian Premier League - DLF IPL.

“Cricket cannot be marketed. Crowd in the grounds has to believe what they are seeing is real and not a reality show. Fast paced exciting colourful cricket is a grand idea but in India cricket fans will take time to adjust to the concept. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi expressed his disapproval of auctioning of players for the Indian Premier League. “It is not acceptable to me,” Karunanidhi, an avid follower of cricket, told reporters when asked about the auctioning.

Marvan Atapattu says: “I think the bidding was an indication of your worth. They should not have done it in the open. It was humiliating for some players.”

Following were the words by the highy paid superstar Shahrukh Khan when he was asked about the sponsors of Indian Premier League

 “Belmont, Nokia, HDIL and Tag Heur are already with me. To be very honest, I think we are the only team that needs sponsors. Reliance, Kingfisher and GMR have lots of money. They are public limited companies. We are the only private limited company trying to make a foray into this. It’s not that sponsors will come on board (on their own), I am begging them to come on board so we can live this dream.”

“I think we got 80 to 90 per cent of what we wanted. I am very happy with it. I personally didn’t enjoy the auction, I am very odd with these kind of things. It was fun to go there but was a little embarrassing to sit and raise hands and all, so I didn’t do it.”
