Eden Garden, one of the best cricket grounds of the world had a really miserable day on Sunday 20. From bad pitch to blackout due to light failure, many problems were encountered during the match. As soon as the match started nearly every one including the umpires and commentators were not happy with the pitch. It was a dusty pitch and was not suitable for T20 format. Laxman and Ganguly were hit with ball due to uneven bounce. This was not all, when the climax of the match was approaching, suddenly the ground was engulfed in darkness due to a failure of stadium lights. The problem began when Kolkata Knight Riders were on 89 for 5 in 16.2 overs, still needing 22 runs from 22 balls to win the match. In this process a total of 31 min were lost but it was decided that the match would be completed without Duckworth Lewis rule. The blame game started and CAB president Prasun Mukherjee held the CESC responsible, saying the light partially went off due to a grid failure at the power supply company’s BBD Bag sub-station.
