Result – Deccan Chargers Win by 6 Wickets

Chennai Super Kings Innings
Deccan Chargers won the toss and elected to field first on this new pitch with a hope of taking some initial wickets. Though they claimed Parthiv Patel in very first order but the hope were ruined by some sensational batting by Mathew Hayden and Suresh Raina. Together they took the score past 50 and it looked they were upto a very high score. But then Raina got out and this brought Dhoni to the crease. With high score in mind, both Dhoni and Hayden started hitting the loose balls to fence and scoring ones and two’s at ease. Ojha was brought to the attack and he got rid of both Dhoni and Hayden in same over to shatter the hopes of Chennai Super Kings. But Jacob Oram played some huge shots and took the score pass 150 and in the end of alloted 20 overs, they scored 165/6.

Deccan Chargers Innings
When Gilchrist and Gibbs are the openers of any team, you can expect fireworks from the very first ball and this is what actually happened today in the 16th match of IPL. Chasing a target of 166, they both smashed the balls to every corner of the ground and the Chennai Super Kings bowler were looking helpless. After all the main bowlers failed, it was Raina who took the priced scalp of Gilly when the team score was 67 in the 6th over. But the damage was already done.Though Raina got another wicket of Laxman soon but still the chase was on and the total looked to low with each shot played by Gibbs. Rohit Sharma and Smith contributed some useful runs but in the end it was Gibbs show and he took his team to victory in the last over.
