Today in the 33rd match of Pepsi IPL 2013, Kolkata Knight Riders won the toss and elected to bat first. Yusuf Pathan and Gautam Gambhir scored 27 runs before Pathan got out after scoring 19 off 6 balls. KKR were 271 in 1.1 overs. Gautam Gambhir and Jacques Kallis then took the team score past 50. Gambir was the next to fall as he scored 26 off 20 balls before falling to Ojha. Kallis and Manoj Tiwary scored 37 and 33 respectively. It was a collective team effort as every batsmen contributed to the team score. In the end Eoin Morgan’s 25 ball 21 helped KKR post 159/6 in 20 overs.

Chasing 160 to win, Dwayne Smith and Sachin Tendulkar opened the innings and scored 29 in 4.5 overs before Birthday Boy Sachin was bowled by Narine when he was on just 2 to spoil the party. Dwayne Smith continued his onslaught as he smashed KKR bowlers to all corners of the park. Dinesh Karthik also fell cheaply as he scored just 7. Needing 78 to win from last 10 overs, Mumbai were riding on D Smith’s innings but in the 11th over Dwayne Smith got out after scoring 62 off 42 balls(3×4,5×6). Rohit Sharma and Kevin Pollard then continued from where Smith left. Rohit Sharma scored 34 off 28 balls which included 1 four and 2 sixes before getting out when the team score was 132. Kevin Pollard and Ambati Rayudu then took Mumbai Indians inches away from win win Pollard got out. Harbhajan singh smashed a six and then Rayudu hit a four to take Mumbai towards a 5 wicket win.
