Today was the first semifinal between Delhi Daredevils and Deccan Chargers. Deccan Chargers won the toss and elected to field first and this decision went hugely in the favor as Delhi Daredevils lost 2 wickets in the very first over. Sehwag, Dilshan and AB de Villers then helped them to recover and post a decent total of 153/8 in 20 overs. Dilshan was the highest scorer for Delhi Daredevils as he scored 65 runs. Chasing the total of 154 for a final berth, Gilly played a captions knock. He was at his devastating best and Delhi bowlers looked clueless. With the strike rate of 242.86, Gilchrist scored 85 runs off just 35 balls and took the match away from Delhi Daredevils. Though Delhi was considered favorites before the start of match but when we see an innings like this, favorites tend to change. Suman and Symonds supported and helped Deccan Chargers to cruise along easily and face the winner of second semi final winner on Sunday.

IPL Semi Final – 1 – Deccan Chargers vs Delhi Daredevils
The much awaited semi final of the prestigious DLF IPL -2 is today between Deccan Chargers and Delhi Daredevils. The odds in favor of Delhi Daredevils are much higher and they are the favorites in today’s match. But Deccan Chargers have proved time and again in this tournament that they can not be taken lightly.

Mumbai Indians were asked to bat first after they lost toss to Delhi Daredevils. They lost the first wicket in the very first over. Tendulkar was the ray of hope for Mumbai Indians and he did played some excellent shots. His innings of 46 was studded with 8 fours. The only other batsmen who played a innings which tool Mumbai Indians to a respectable total was Rahane. He completed his half century and it was due to Sachin and Rahane that Mumbai Indians were able to post a total of 165/8 in 20 overs.

What a comeback by Sehwag!! Chasing the totall of 166 to win, Delhi Daredevils got to a flying start with Gambhir and Warner. But the problem did not ended when Warner was dismissed Sehwag came to the center and blasted every bowler for 27 ball 50. It was Gambhir and Sehwag who took the game away from Mumbai Indians who are already out but were playing for prestige. This brought them on backfoot and the normal aggression was lacking in the batting of other batsmen. AB de Villers and Karthik tried to bring the innings back to normal and helped Delhi Daredevils to score a respectable total. Nagar and Mahroof also contributed to the total of 134/7 in 20 overs.

But then AB De Villers came to bat and changed the total scenario and took Delhi Daredevils out of the trouble. He played some very good shots and along with Dilshan took the score past 100. After Dilshan got out, Karthik came and played a cameo of 23 runs and thus helped Delhi Daredevils post a total of 150/3 in 20 overs.

Chasing 151 to win, Rajasthan Royals lost 3 quick wickets and were struggling at 24/3 in the 7th over. But Botha and Jadega came to Rajasthan Royals rescue and played cautiously and took the score past 50. Rajasthan Royals were 60/3 in 10 overs and required 91 more to win in remaining 10 overs. In the process of increasing run rate, Jadega got out and Yusuf Pathan came to the center. As soon as Jadega fell, wickets started to fell in quick succession and Rajasthan Royals were reduced to 107/9.
The ended with 136/9 thus handing Delhi a win by 14 runs.

Chasing a small total in a must win match, Punjab’s Kings XI lost Katich when the team score was just 20. Then soon two more wickets fell and Kings XI Punjab were reduced to 35/3 and it looked the game is open again for both teams. But Yuvraj Singh and Sangakkara made sure that Kings XI Punjab win the game and keep alive the chances to make it in semifinals. Though the match witnessed some sensational moments in which it looked Delhi Daredevils will strike back but Kings XI Punjab played really well. In the end it was Pathan who shattered all hope of Delhi Daredevils and thus Kings XI Punjab won the match by 6 wickets.
