In an exciting IPL game, Yusuf Pathan powered Kolkata Knight Riders to an emphatic 4 wicket win. They won within 15.2 overs and thus made sure they have two shots at the final as they have displaced CSK as number two team in IPL points table.
Chasing 161 to win, Kolkata Knight Riders got off to a flying start with Robin Uthappa and Gautam Gambhir adding43 runs in 4.4 overs for the first wicket stand. But with the fall of Gambhir, the scoring rate dipped but KKR slowly and steadily were getting close to their target. The real star for KKR was Yusuf Pathan who not only made sure his team won but won within those 15.2 overs to improve their net run rate and move ahead of Chennai in points table. When Yusuf came to the crease KKR needed 106 from 47 balls and it looked highly impossible for them. But Pathan was in full flow today and was supported by the poor fielding and drop catches by Hyderbad. Pathan was given more than 2 chances and he made the full use of it. He hammered the fastest IPL fifty in just 15 balls and his total of 72 of 22 balls ( 5 fours and 7 sixes) helped his team win by 4 wickets.
Earlier KKR won the toss and elected to field first. SRH lost opener David Warner on the second ball of the innings as he was bowled by Morkel. But Shikhar Dhawan and Naman Ojha took took charge and took the score to 69 in 8 overs when Ojha became the victim of Doeschate. Though wickets kept falling at regular intervals but runs kept coming. Every middle order batsmen contributed and helped Sunrisers Hyderabad post a total of 160/7 in 20 overs
