On second day of DLF - Indian Premier League, Chennai Super Kings takes on Kings 11 Punjab. Chennai Super Kings won the toss and decided to bat first.The decision looked good when Parthiv Patel hit three consectutive fours to Shreesant but later Brett Lee gave the initial jolt to Chennai Super Kings and soon after Mathew Hayden was bowled by Irfan Pathan. Mahinder Singh Dhoni also did not lasted long and was given LBW of Hopes.

Then it was on Hussey and Raina to sail the ship of Chennai Super Kings. They stroked some huge sixes to give some much needed thrive to the team and in 11th over 100 was crossed.Hussey was on fire as he tried to loft each ball over the boundary line and thus played a gem of an inning. Kris Srikant was seen dancing and rocking when Hussey was hammering the bowlers

At the end of 12th over Suresh Raina in an attempt to hit a six was catched near the boundary line. Jacob Oram replaced him but didn’t lasted long and was clean bowled by Irfan Pathan on 13. Badrinath came to the center to give company to Hussey who on the other end was simply in a golden touch. He completed his 1st hundred in IPL in just 50 balls. He striked 9 sixes in his innings of 116 not out and in the last over Badrinath(31 n.o) hit two mighty sixes and four to pose a huge total of 240 for Punjab Kings.

‘Kings XI Punjab’ - Team Mohali of the Indian Premier League was officially launched at the Punjab Cricket Association Stadium, Mohali on 31st March 2008.On this occasion, actor and co-promoter of the team, Preity Zinta presented the First Golden Ticket to Vinay Sanjta and his family , winners of the BIG FM contest that was exclusively promoted over the last few days.

Positioning itself as a people driven and community lead team, Team Mohali will create and promote community centric activites like the Golden Ticket initiative, Scholarships, Cricket Clinics, Academies, which will be announced shortly. The promoters believe in nurturing talent at the grassroots level and are committed to developing the game of cricket especially in the Punjab region.It was also decided to price the tickets starting at Rs 50 so that its not out of the reach of any cricket lover.

Yash Gandhi, a 17-year-old cricketer from Wadala, is over the moon after being picked in the Mohali team for the forthcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) under the scholarship scheme.The class 12 student of HR college was contacted by the team’s cricket manager Sachin Bajaj and was taken on board on March 24 and has been named in the team list announced by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Thursday.

“We have signed Yash under the scholarship scheme. He is a talented cricketer and we have a long-term strategy and wanted to invest at the grass route level,” Bajaj told HT.Sahil Kukreja and Wilkin Mota are two other cricketers from Mumbai who have been signed by the Mohali team.

Yash said he will join the team on April 8. “I will have to work hard now. It will be a big test for me,” said Yash, who also played for Copsewood West Indian Wanderers Second in the Boundary Warwickshire League in England last year.Yash had also scored an unbeaten 365 for Don Bosco, Matunga against St Sebastian in Harris Shield semifinal in 2006.

“I am no Test cricket buff but am very excited about the Twenty20 format which is more suited for youngsters and families. We not only have some of the best young players in the game today, but ours is also a well-balanced side. Yuvraj Singh is the best Twenty20 player in the world and Brett Lee is the fastest bowler in the world. It was so exciting to watch Yuvraj hit six sixes in an over in the T20 World Cup. Our top players are regulars in their respective national teams. I expect King’s XI Punjab to win the trophy.”
