Match 8 – Chennai Super Kings Defeat Kolkata Knight Riders by 55 Runs
The dream end of Kolkata Knight Riders ended today when Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings defeated Ganguly’s Kolkata Knight Riders by 55 runs.
Batting first, CSK got to a pretty slow start but managed to score 164/3 in 20 overs thank to a superb knock by Dhoni ( 66 runs of just 33 balls).
The current form of Kolkata Knight Riders should have made it very easy to chase that target but Dhoni’s CSK bowlers were in no mood to give it away so easy. Kolkata Knight Riders lost the first wicket in the very first over and from there on the wickets started to fell like a pile of cards. Not even a single batsmen could take the charge and save the match for KKR. Kolkata Knight Riders were struggling at 69/6 in the 11th over and it looked all over for them. They crossed 100 run mark in 17th over but had lost 9 wickets to get that. Kolkata Knight Riders dream run on the path of victory was atlast halted by Chennai Super Kings.
Chennai Super Kings bundled Kolkata Knight Riders for just 109/10.
Dhoni guides CSK to a Decent Total
In the battle between icons, Ganguly’s Knight Riders never gave Chennai Super Kings respite with some tight bowling. Today at Eden’s, CSK won the toss and elected to bat first. M Vijay and Hayden started the CSK innings but Hayden was bold by Ishant Sharma and CSK lost the first wicket in 4th over. Knight Riders never allowed Chennai Super Kings to score freely in initial overs. But the onslaught by Dhoni helped CSK score a decent score of 164/3 in 20 overs
Dhoni and Badrinath steaded the innings though initially at a much slower run rate but once they crossed the 15th over, both batsmen started scoring freely. Dhoni was at his blistering best and scored 66 runs in just 33 balls which included 6 fours and 3 sixes.
